In the coming weeks we are still going to do the question answer Volks, so hesitated to drop a question in the comments section. The dream of expressing the grid and living a simple life? We have been away from Graid for two years, we are going to tell you everything, good bad and ugly. Has off-Grid life really distorted everything? #Offgridliving #homestes, Jason & Yuan, we tell the story of how we live in a small house. In the north of Scotland, an off -abandoned farm/housing/smaluting (wheat you want to call it). Join us when trying to bring a small house. Follow ourselves as we go to live a simple, slow, mortgage and debt -free life. Everything can be more controlled by everyday life. It started on a cup of tea with a farmer on a small Scottish Island, and we adopted a small flock of orphan lambs. This was not planned, but we were determined to take care of them and give them long and happy life. We have no land to live, so we needed a plan. After a long search, we saw a wonderful options to buy a mountain on the north of Scotland. We moved our little flock to the land. So our off -Grid, slow life, debt -free journey begins, and day by day we make a small house and land again. We're going to be doing a few Q&A videos on Wednesdays over the coming weeks so please feel free to drop a question in the comments section.
Loosing a pet, especially such a close one, is like Loosing part of the family. Grieving for them is a true reflection of your love and theirs ❤
So very sorry to hear about Willow. That’s tough for sure they get into your heart ❤️ take care thank you both for sharing
so sorry for your loss, Willow had such a short life but you gave him lots of love and the best life he could have had. my heart is breaking for you but Willow will live on in your heart forever
Willow was an animal spirit guide sent to see you through a difficult period. ❤
❤❤❤❤
A lot of Scotland has been deforested, have you any interest in trying to grow truffles, you get trees and truffles. I haven’t seen any water on your land, what about building a pond? A pond would have massive benefits for wildlife and have some aquaculture possibilities. I also like planting food producing trees, would your farm be suitable for trees such as heritage apples. There are several organisations such as Scottish Heritage Fruit Trees and Orchard Revival that could assist.
Sorry for your loss Jason
So sorry you've had such a rough slog lately. Sending my deepest condolences on the loss of Willow. I'm the proud dad to three moggies and I love them dearly. Here's to better days!
Oh that is so sad…..what a loss so early in the cat's life! Strange too, 'organ failure'??? You said it wasn't poisoning, which is what I'd have suspected. Anyway, I'm really sorry to hear that, and think it's a lovely idea to plant a tree – would a Willow work on your land? Also, what happened to your eye? I'm looking after my old dog at the moment, who is near the end, and it's hard…
It's crazy that someone with such a big heart could have heart problems. It's been a tough year, but if anyone can turn it into a positive, it's you two.
Sending all the love x
Nb, the hippy in me thinks that Willow was gifted to you for a moment in time, and that's something special.
🤍 🤍
So sorry for your loss Jason, willow was a special lad. Gutted for you 😢
willow will always be in your heart, and your land, looking out for you all, so sorry for your loss, a willow tree would be a great idea ,take care xx
We have a cat, she has helped so much with my son’s recovery from a mental health crisis. Her sensitivity for someone’s needs are amazing. She is not a lap cat at all, but gives so much. The loss of your lovely willow, so unexpected, not easy, she was so connected with you. Amazing how our animal friends fill such a big part in our lives and hearts, so grateful for that. Take care.
♥️💙💋💛🧡💟
yes how did you find it and how far up are you ,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I am not really a cat person, but I can honestly say I have never seen a bond like you and Willow had. My heart breaks for you. I lost my dog over ten years ago and I still think of him. The only comfort is the love and good life you gave him. Keep walking and get that heart better.
Oh, no!!! Jason and Yvonne I am heartbroken to hear that Willow is no longer with you. He loved you guys so much!! 😢
I didn’t realize how young he was.
My deepest condolences 💔🐾🌈
You have had a terrible year so far with your health issues and now Willow.
I am praying that things will get better for you now. ♥️🙏🏻♥️
Really sorry willow was indeed a very cool cat a proper mate gutted for you both.
So sorry Jason, grief is such a journey, we wander thru the hits and surprises it brings, wishing it was not us going thru the experience, but not wishing it on others also. Take care of yourself in a gentle way, live has a way of hitting us hard for a while, then easing off…….perhaps your easing off is just around the corner……..love watching your episodes, first time I have had a homesteader reveal the costs of starting up…thanks so much for the honesty.
I'm sorry to hear that Willow died so suddenly. He was so young and enjoying his life with you immensely. He found you and loved you and you loved him – such a wonderful part of your lives. Watching you on your walk, I thought to myself that man needs a cat friendly dog to make his walks more exciting.
I live with cats, they come into my life in various ways, through the woods, through the homeless shelters, friends etc – always loved, always cared for and deeply missed when they pass, dogs also.
I can also relate to the off grid in a sense. I just got rid of the generator – run on propane, always breaking down. It was standby in case of power cuts. Think of something else. And yes, very expensive.
Willow found the person he needed for his short, but rather wonderful life.
Sooo sorry for your loss 😢
So sorry to hear willow has passed
He was a lovely cat
He showed you so much affection to you
I know how it is
I’ve been there myself
Sorry again for your lost
Take care mate
So sorry to hear about Willow 😢🙏🏻🇿🇦🏴❤️
I'm so sorry hon for your loss. Willow was such a delight. Heartfelt condolences to y'all. I know that pain all too well at the age of 64. But the memories will help sustain you. Let them just flood you whenever they happen. All that walking is a must!!! I finally got a pacemaker in July, messed up and had to have it replaced in August last year. I was walking up to that point every day in the morning and evening. I still haven't gotten back to walking. I do the stretches and whatnot at the house, but man, I'm desperate to get strong enough to get back to walking. Keep it up!!!
Ugh. I'm so sorry about Willow. I think, without wanting to spout platitudes, that you were meant to find that little kitten to give it the best life you could. And you did. I don't suppose a willow tree would be an option in your environment?
So sorry for your loss of Willow. All of us pet owners who have experienced this knows how hard it can be. Willow looked like a loving cat and a cat that enjoyed to be loved.
Oh no! 😢 Little Willow! 💔 I’m so sorry, Jason! 2025 has been a crap year for you. I’m a huge cat lover and animals really do become part of the family. It’s heartbreaking when you lose them. Sending hugs 🤗 😘🌻
Glad to see you and so sorry to hear about Willow – she was special
It's always awful to loose a beloved pet, and I am so sorry that you lost the lovely Willow. But luckily we didn't lose you, Jason, in the beginning of this year. Somehow that makes up for it a little, doesn't it…
I think your break down of costs is very fair, especially with regard to the solar system and batteries. Our neighbours spent a fortune on s similar set up. If we were to go off grid now, we'd model it entirely on the marine system on our boat – or as is planned to be, since there are parts we haven't upgraded yet. We rebuilt her over the last few years and typically, that is the last thing to be addressed, if ever we get round to doing it. It is a far cheaper way of doing the same thing, but on a far smaller scale, which is where living on board comes into its own because you quickly get used to limiting your needs and forgetting your wants.
i did not see the video about Willow [i do miss notifications quite often for some reason]- but yes, animals find a place in our hearts that neither most people nor 'things' ever can. It is because, I think, animals see us as we are and not as they might like us to be, or as we might like to think we are. The connection is real in every possible sense of the word and if you are very fortunate the same can be found with the person you share your life with – but too many, sadly, don't find that. I am so sorry to hear the news, but, because your grief is no more than the measure of the joy he brought you, I am glad you have had that. Let the tears fall gently…..those are his last and perhaps most important gift to you – they are real too.
Thank you for sharing yourself so freely. I will be thinking of you, and kindly so, my friend x
Hello Jason, one of your normally silent followers. I'm so sorry to hear Willow has passed, she was a lovely cat who you clearly had a strong bond with, the pain of losing a beloved pet is often underestimated. A tree is a lovely idea and getting yourself another (rescue) cat or dog will help with grieving for Willow. Take care and look forward to your next video.
