Good Bad & Ugly attempts to weave a narrative around three friends with contrasting personalities—Harikrishnan (the good), Jeevan (the bad), and Suraj (the ugly)—during a hartal (strike) day in Thiruvananthapuram. The premise is ripe with potential, aiming to explore how an ordinary day under extraordinary social circumstances can test relationships, morality, and personal choices.

Unfortunately, the film stumbles both in execution and storytelling. While the idea of using a hartal as a backdrop is intriguing and offers social relevance, the screenplay lacks depth and fails to give the characters meaningful arcs. The film leans heavily on stereotypes to define its leads, which flattens their personalities rather than making them complex or relatable.

The performances are a mixed bag. Sreejith Vijay, Basil, and Sanju deliver sincere efforts, but they are constrained by weak dialogues and underdeveloped scenes. The cinematography captures the capital city with a fair sense of realism, and the music by M. G. Sreekumar adds a bit of life to certain moments, but these strengths aren’t enough to hold the film together.

Ultimately, Good Bad & Ugly is a film that wants to say something about youth, politics, and society, but ends up being a shallow ride with forgettable characters and unfulfilled ideas. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t leave a lasting impact either.
