Splitgate 2 is a new FPS game from 1047 Games. The original Splitgate was basically Halo with portals. It was a very fast-paced, floaty, 3D movement, sci-fi type game and I loved it. Splitgate 2 has the same base gameplay but now they’ve decided to add in hero shooter elements kind of like OverWatch. Everybody can make portals, but some characters can make shields, heals, and other boosts for the team. And now it has battle royale!

In an AMA the CEO mentioned possibly changing the name of the BR to an Arena Royale. I think that's more accurate to what this BR is.
Splitgate 2 is also available on Windows store, and Epic, not just Steam. Putting this on here, to remind people that the games population is split across 5 different places, so you can't just look at steam charts for gauging pop. Windows Store, Epic, Steam, Xbox, & Playstation. I'm kinda surprised it's not on the Switch 2.

I think my biggest gripe is the footstep audio. It’s virtually non existent.
As long as the developers don't do anything stupid marketing wise, like X-Defiant.
Main thing you forgot to bring up was the team damage. we ran into trouble so many times because 4 us play cod/warzone solo abit. so we were used to wondering off and getting into fights solo but in this game we had to stay double teaming to get the eliminations. but we were catching ourself alot wondering off looting up because of the warzone mindset of splitting up.
I've been seeing a lot of the talk about not knowing about the armor and other things – and I can't help but think but, when did gamers stop being curious? when you see something don't you want to figure out what it is/does? why do so many just ignore it?

The movement mechanics sounds awesome.
Halo needed something like this, maybe even faster.
But other than that I'm not interested.

true the graphic looks basic a notice it too ,but for this crazy game i understand why it looks like this for now…cause i notice the better the graphic looks in a game the harder it is to play a game like this with all the codex running in the back ground…in the future if the tech becomes more advance then we will see a game like this in a beautiful graphics environment…but for now its like this…the gameplay is top tier elite fps to his core that's the most important part always…if ppl playing mind craft or road blocks all day cause its fun not cause it looks pretty…then this graphic for this type of game is also top tier in a way if u see it in a different perspective Lence and understand why it looks like this for this type of game👁🧠👁
Nah man the hat makes me wanna play it even more. Even though I don’t agree with a lot of what trump has been doing we gotta stop this cancel culture stuff. It’s a huge stain on our country and freedom. I haven’t stopped playing games that make massive political stances that I think are disgusting. I also don’t advocate for them to stop making those claims. Speak your mind. Promote what you want. And if you wanna wear a hat that looks like a trump hat go and do it. Heck I’ll come play it just because you had the courage to do it.
Why do EVERYONE focus on the BR in this game? It's not a BR game, it's an arena shooter. Yet, many of the typical comments I see sound something like this: "Should I play Splitgate 2? It looks like a fun BR".
Idk I wasn't sold on the portal gimmick, it's really a rough sell with so many other f2p shooters out there. (The Finals) And these games usually require a decent time investment. I wish it the best, it ain't for me.
I had a lot of fun playing on PC… when it was working properly. That was my only issue.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, but this is the most casual FPS that I’ve played in years other than XDefiant.
One way to retain and ensure casual players can join a month or two in is probably to make No Portals mode permanent.
The skill gap with movement and portals will alienate a good chunk of newcomers down the line so honestly if they keep some aspect boots on the ground it would ease in new and old players alike.

That Summer games fest presentation totally turned me off any chance of playing the game. The announcement of yet another battle royale and the way it was presented was just awful!
i honestly dont get the conversation that implies casuals cant enjoy the portals. i played for the first time today and felt like a god just whacking a portal behind someone and shooting em in the back, it was fun. all that amidst the chaos of not knowing which portal ive put where most of the time and forgetting which button does what portal. the portals for me seem like the thing that makes the game stand out and id like to get good at it. and the bullet registry felt good as opposed to xdefiant when i tried that or halo infinite which was garbage. i do think the games longevity goes alongside a conversation of can a shooter like this flourish when ppl are still happy to play trash like cod and are happy with the treatment activision gives its customer base.
the br needs alternatives to 4 man squads i think, ppl dont mic up like they used to, it's fun to group as a full team which is more difficult for a 4 man number, though i don't like BRs as i find a lot of the time is spent walking around and it's quite boring rather then the fun part of the gun fights so i would like to play this as it actually addresses my main gripes with the genre
I love this game, best PvP game I've played in years (since Hell Let Loose maybe?). I'm not a BR fan, but I'm glad BR guys get something while I'm having more fun in arena!
All the BR really needs is quality of life improvements and just better netcode fr
I don't get why people hate this game for having br. There is plenty of content besides it so just play whatever game mode you like. But nah, this game has a br therefore must hate.

The ugly that has to be discussed more is the servers. This game has been out for weeks and XP is still disappearing or delayed and challenges not tracking. This is beyond frustrating for people who play for progression. This needs to be fixed ASAP

I feel like the key difference between splitgate's vs other skill gaps is how relatively easy it is to at least feel like you're going fast. Speaking anecdotally I've never heard randoms on voice chat after getting completely stomped exclaim "that was so fun!!!" Until I played splitgate 2
Mid game imo. They keep trying to remake apex.
Personally, I don’t think ANY game should rely solely on audio cues. It fails too often and is uncompetitive

BR isn't my favorite thing in the world but it's different enough from most of the others that it's alright
Arena mode is where it's at and I love the ability to make custom maps online in real time

i love the game so far but i’m a hardcore fps player and i love movement shooters more than anything. i have the mechanics and reaction time required to keep enjoying the game but i know most of the casual player base isn’t gonna stick around. there is a rotational game mode that is no portals, but i think if the devs want to maintain the casual side of their player base they’re gonna have to handle it like fortnite does with its zero build modes. i think the best solution is to implement ranked modes for hardcore competitive players, the base rotational modes for the average to above average players, and then permanent no portal modes for the casual players and below average players. i think this type of system would offer a lil bit of something for everyone and increase the life span of the game as a whole.

The fact that somebody in front of you can portal behind you at any time and shoot you in the back guarantees that this mode will never succeed. Nobody is going to want to play a game where you can be third partied by the same team that you're already fighting

The battle royale is forgettable but i think the game can successfully pivot as a halo alternative and they even have the capability to remove the portal mechanic altogether if the community rejects it.
If you view this game as a creative successor to halo i believe the game has longevity compared to x defiant which was also going to be at the mercy of CoD
Review the arena mode please. This ballet Royale, is fresh and fun. But I don't want arena forgotten about and i only see big names talk about br. That being said, i'm a day one and I appreciate you reviewing the second in a series of my favorite game in the world
